Battalion Landing Team (BLT) 1/7 was supposed to land on 13 August 1965 but our mail address was "Marine 13" and the Colonel would not land a "Marine 13" on Friday the 13th so we went ashore on 14 August. Our designation was changed from BLT 1/7 to 1st Bn, 7th Marines, 4th Brigade, but we were then assigned to the 3rd Marine Division. SEMPER FIDELIS
A note from The Virtual Wall: |
Bobby was and remains my very best friend, his memories are alive, for there is not a day that goes by that I don't think of him. He wanted to be a doctor after his tour of duty was up, but he never got that chance. He had dreams of marrying his girl Carla, but that day never came. He wanted to return to New Orleans and live, but Vietnam saw that this would never happen. He was a good Marine, and a good man. His memories will always live as long as I am alive, for I will never forget who he was or what he wanted in life. I do him honor, and say God bless and keep you close.
