Not a day goes by that you are not thought of. It is impossible to look into the eyes of mother and not see the pain of her enormous loss. Her smile no longer bright, her laugh is nearly void. If I could have but one wish, it would be to hear the two of you laughing as you so often did, I could then look into the eyes of my mother and see someone who is happy looking back.

A Note from The Virtual WallD Company, 1/5th Cavalry, lost five men on 27 April 1969 near LZ Dollie in a firefight which developed following an initial ambush by VC troops:
