Jay, We were so young together. I will never forget you - so kind, so handsome. We were corresponding regularly when I got a beautiful Christmas card from you. Then soon after came the day when my mother called me in Hawaii, where I was stationed in the U.S. Air Force, and told me that you had been killed. The next day, in my grief and sorrow, I received my last letter from you - which I still have. So many years now separate us, Jay, but I still think of you. When I have gotten home to Pittsfield and Nebo, I have visited with your parents at times. And lately, I have spoken with many of our High School classmates, and I assure you, you are not forgotten. 40 years, Jay, and you are not forgotten. You are not forgotten in my heart either. How I wish we could have met just one last time. That those final years were not spent just on paper. I salute you, my old friend, with my love, my honor, my respect ... my remembrance of you. In 2002, at Christmas, I laid a wreath and flag there at that big Wall, for you. I touched your name, and it touched my heart. I looked at my own reflection, and I also saw you. Smiling back at me. Remembering the happy moments we had togehter. Thumbs up, my friend. May you be one of the first to greet me in Heaven. Gail "All gave some. Some gave all."
