Danny Ray's grandfather and my grandfather were twin brothers. While Danny Ray was more than a decade older than me, I have fond memories of him when he would come over when we were visiting my grandparents in the small central Texas town of Sidney. Our grandfathers lived next door to each other, with a pasture between them. He loved to pick and tease at my siblings and myself, along with my two uncles who were his age. We are a very close family, and I really missed having Danny Ray around when we grew up. I would have liked to have seen the type of man the young man I knew became.
