Troy was the second young man from Union County, South Carolina, to be killed in Vietnam. Even though he wasn't old enough to buy a beer in America, he was old enough to go thousands of miles away from home and family and carry a gun. We are so proud of Troy. "No man hath greater love than to lay down his life for his brother." Troy did this without hesitating, just as so many others did. He left his family 38 years ago, but he is always in our hearts and minds.

A Note from The Virtual WallA Company, 2/28th Infantry, lost two men on 03 August 1967: SP4 Troy M. Puckett and SP4 David L. Wightman of Fair Oaks, California.Combat zones carry a host of dangers even when the enemy is not present. SP4 Puckett died at the hands of the enemy, but SP4 Wightman died of other causes, seemingly in a weapons accident. |
