Dave was a fraternity brother of mine at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. We always enjoyed each other's company and occasionaly played golf together. He participated in my wedding in 1967. We were both in AFROTC and at graduation from college were commissioned as 2nd Lieutenants in the Air Force. Dave became a crew member of a B-52. Later in the Vietnam war he was assigned duty in Thailand where his aircraft was involved in bombing raids over Vietnam. To the best of my knowledge on July 30, 1972 his aircraft, while on a bombing misson, was struck by lightning and crashed with no survivors. My wife and I still talk about how much we miss him. He was a great guy and a dedicated American patriot.

A Note from The Virtual WallFive crewmen were killed and one survived when a B-52D (tail number 56-0677) of the 307th Strategic Bomb Wing was struck by lightning after take-off from U-Tapao RTAFB on a combat mission.
