A Note from The Virtual Wall

Then-Sergeant Ronald Pharis was a combat medic assigned to Headquarters Company, 1st Bn, 508th Infantry, but he was in the field as Alpha Company's senior medic on 27 Aug 1968. Alpha 1/508 lost four men that day:
  • 1LT John S. Baxter, Plainwell, MI
  • SFC Washington L. James, Shady Spring, WV
  • SSG Ronald W. Pharis, Lake City, FL
  • SGT Vincent A. Clark, Indianapolis, IN
Sgt Pharis received a posthumous promotion to Staff Sergeant.
