I didn't know Robert very well. I remember he was a sophomore when I was a senior. He was just one of the many. When I started to attempt to gather a picture for the casualities of my hometown who were killed in Vietnam, I suddenly remembered these people when a picture was placed with a name. My hometown had about 50,000 people during the Vietnam years. We had 45 official casualities in which Odessa was listed as the home of record. Our county memorial has some 60 names of casualities. Many lived in Odessa at one time or another. It was an oil field town and people moved in and moved out with the price of oil. I am 56 years old, now. I am a veteran of Vietnam. I served there in February of 1968 through February of 1969. I have no illusions, I have no more tears, all I have is my memories and the void of so many lost lives and the emptiness that they could never realize their dreams. That is the same with my war, as it was with those who fought in every other war for our Country.
