Theater: |
Republic of Vietnam |
Reason: |
Private First Class Mrazik distinguished himself by heroic actions on 24 October 1968, while serving as an RTO with Company C, 4th Battalion, 9th Infantry in the Republic of Vietnam. While on a combat operation Company C came under an intense hostile attack, inflicting several casualties. With complete disregard for his own safety, Private Mrazik exposed himself to a heavy volume of hostile fire as he moved through the bullet swept area to evacuate his wounded comrades to safety. Returning to the area of contact, Private Mrazik secured desperately needed ammunition. As he was bringing the ammunition to a machine gun position he was fatally wounded. His valorous actions contributed immeasurably to the success of the mission and defeat of the hostile force. Private Mrazik's personal bravery, aggressiveness, and devotion to duty are in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, the 25th Infantry Division, and the United States Army.
