Don listed his Home of Record as Houston, Texas, but he was from Odessa, Texas. Don was living in Houston when he enlisted in the Army in the summer of 1966. He was accidentally killed when he set off a grenade that he was carrying. Donnie is buried in the Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Odessa, Texas, and is remembered on the Permian Basin Vietnam Memorial located at the Midland, Texas International Airport. May his service never be forgotten.
01 Feb 2008 Don is buried in Plains, Texas in the City Cemetery. It was erroneously reported that he was buried in Odessa. His name is on the plaque at Permian High School in Odessa, Texas as one of twenty former students who perished in Vietnam. At the time of his death, his parents were living in Levelland, Texas. His father passed away in 2004 and now rests next to him. His headstone indicates he was awarded a Purple Heart.
