Sergeant Moreno was my Platoon Sergeant. He was on his second tour of duty when he was killed by a booby trap. I walked point that day for a company of Marines during Operation Allen Brook on Go Noi Island. We encountered many NVA on this operation in July 1968. Sergeant Moreno was a great Platoon Sergeant - he led from the front, he was fearless and knew his stuff. I will never forget him, he gave his all for his Platoon and Country! He had just returned from visiting his wife on R&R in Hawaii when he was killed. His death was a great loss for our Platoon and all who knew him. The Marine Corps lost a great leader that awful day. I will never forget him, and his courage and honor!
