Lonnie Wayne Mitchell began his tour in Vietnam on 28 April 1971. He died in Thua Thien, South Vietnam on 23 October 1971, aged 18 years. Lonnie Mitchell was the last soldier of the 2/502 to die in Vietnam, the 445th casualty.
