I knew Michael's mother, Colleen Minko. We worked together at Hughes Aircraft Company in Canoga Park, California. He had barely reached Vietnam before he was killed as his jeep was blown up. If I'm not mistaken, she was notified on Christmas Eve.
Although I only met him a couple of times, there has never been a Veteran's day that has passed without me remembering what a nice, handsome man Mike was.
I hope that his mother takes comfort in the fact that her son is not forgotten.
