REMEMBERED

by his daughter.

17 Jan 2006

I was looking through my father's foot locker one day (as I do so many times) and I wonder what life would have been like just to know him for one day. If anyone out there can tell me please send me an e-mail.

From his daughter,

My mother, my brothers, and I never got to know my grandfather, Glen.

What I do know is he died with honor and integrity, and love for his wife.

I might not have had the chance to know him but I will always remember him.

I guarantee I will always remember what he did for me and my country, as well as the others and the ones who are serving now.

You have to be a special person to die for your country.

God put him on this earth for a reason, maybe that was it.

A Note from The Virtual Wall

Between 19 and 23 October 1968 the 2nd Battalion, 5th Marines was at An Hoa in Quang Nam Province, taking a brief break between Operations MAUI PEAK and HENDERSON HILL - but there are risks even in camp. The 2/5 Command Chronology contains the following entry:
"On October 21, 1968 an accident occurred involving two M151 and two M37 vehicles. Two Marines were drowned as a result."
The two men who died in the accident were Sgt Glenn E. Miles and Cpl Michael E. Roberts of Springfield, Ohio.
