This man died in my father's arms. Not a day passes by that I'm sure he doesn't think about him. The story although told to me was sugar coated as much as possible although this was not a wonderful story to learn about. My father doesn't talk about Vietnam to me or my brother or my mom at that. He just wants to block out all the horror and pain which he felt seeing his friends die and get injured. Which I am sure most of the Vets try to do. At any rate Michael Mereno deserves to be recognized as do the rest of these brave men! God Bless all our Vietnam Vets!

A Note from The Virtual WallAccording to the Vietnam Helicopter Pilots' Association and the 128th AHC web site, two men injured in a UH-1B accident on 08 Feb 1970 subsequently died of their injuries - SP4 Michael Mereno on 10 Feb and SP5 Lee M. Leshen on 12 Feb. |
