A Note from The Virtual Wall
The 11th Engineer Battalion Command Chronology for October 1968 reports that the Battalion area received four rounds of 130mm artillery fire on 22 Oct, killing three Marines and wounding four others. The three dead were

Sgt Irwin L. Knickerbocker, Scottsville, NY, D Company;
LCpl James E. McCorkel, Whistler, AL, C Company; and
Pvt Thomas D. Hardy, Pascagoula, MS, HQ Company.
