The database page for Boyd Magee
Boyd and I are from the same rural community in Washington Parish, LA. I only knew him personally as a casual aquaintance but I know several people that knew him well including my wife who went to school with him. I remember him as being a very friendly person who was well liked by those who knew him. I have thought of Boyd often over the last 34 years since his death. I only found out recently from the 506th Infantry Regiment website that Boyd was a fellow "Currahee". I found out that Boyd was killed in action near Fire Support Base Maureen on 25 Apr 70. I would lead a platoon of Currahees through that same area of operations almost a year later. Boyd, I think you would be pleased to know that you are remembered by the Currahees you served and shared your last days with. They have placed a memorial for you on the Currahee website. I've talked to one in particular who was wounded in the same action that took you from us. He speaks highly of you. I sent him a picture of you in uniform to post on the memorial site. I also saw a memorial left by your little sister on another website. You have certainly not been forgotten.
CURRAHEE!!
