A Note from The Virtual Wall

Warrant Officer Lamb died in a ground accident at Soc Trang. He had just returned from a mission in UH-1C tail number 66-15210 and was in the gunship rearming area. As WO Lamb climbed out of his Huey to oversee the reaming, another aircraft (UH-1C 66-15168) was hovering into the rearming area. There was a tailwind and 66-15168 got extremely close to 66-15210 - enough so that the main rotor blades of the two aircraft intermeshed, tearing the rotor, rotor mast, and transmission from 66-15168. 66-15210 rolled over on its right side, crushing WO Lamb beneath the aircraft. There were no other serious injuries among the air or ground crewmen involved in the accident.
