As time goes by ... it's so hard to remember. Your face , your smile, your voice.

You were a young man, going off to war, and I was just your little sister, admiring how handsome you looked as you stood there in those beautiful dress blues.

You were a Marine, just like Dad. Serving our country, America the Beautiful.

You died for our country, you are a hero, and we will forever be proud!

During the summer of 1969 the North Vietnamese Army made repeated attempts to drive Allied forces from the heights of Mutter's Ridge, which formed a portion of the southern boundary of the DMZ. On 10 August Echo Company, 2/3 Marines, lost at least 17 men in heavy fighting near Hill 484.

PFC Richard Johnson was one of the Marines who died that day. He, and the other men who died during the Mutter's Ridge battles of 10 August and 17/18 September, are listed on the
