About the only thing I remember about Billy was him standing in the Saint Anthony's school playground when I was about ten years old. He was taller than most of the kids and always had a big smile. He hung out with the guys near Diamond Bridge Avenue in a big circle just talking and laughing. Small town of Hawthorne, New Jersey. But great people back then. He had a great family with two brothers Frank and George who I see now and then. I guess when you're a little kid the upper classmen are always bigger than life. He had me by about 4 or 5 years. This was about 1958-1963, a long time ago, but I still can remember that smile. Should the family ever read this I would just like to say that a lot of us that served will never forget.
