We held a memorial in honor of you, Sigfrid Karlstrom, and James Sovizal who made the ultimate sacrifice. God give all of you peace. A Note from The Virtual Wall The DoD Central Identification Laboratory database says that SP Dick was assigned to the MACV Advisory Team 27 at the time of his death. Mr. Pence advises that the following information is derived from the official company history of the 41st Civil Affairs Company: "The 41st Civil Affairs Company consisted of twenty teams that were originally assigned to the major tactical units deployed throughout the country. In 1968 most of the teams were reassigned to MACV control. Dick was with the team at Phu My, Binh Dinh Province. He was a medic and also served as team medic for the MACV Advisory Team there - that may be where the confusion lies. It also indicates he won the Bronze Star." and LTC Schmidt puts SP4 Dick with the 41st CA Company's Team 11. In order to resolve the question, The Virtual Wall staff obtained a service record extract from the National Archives which confirms SP4 Dick's assignment to the 41st Civil Affairs Company. MACV's Advisory Team 27 was the team assigned to Binh Dinh Province, although at some point in 1968 its designation was changed to Advisory Team 42.
