On your country's hero roster Thinking of you on this Memorial Day and always, Tommie,
Your old family friend, |
Dear Tommy, My sister and I want you and your family know how much we miss you. Even though she was younger than us, you would let her tag along and have fun with everyone. The last time I saw you was in Fort Benning, Georgia. You were on you way to Viet Nam. We never said good-bye but just "See you soon". So until we see you again, Thank You for what you did for our country, our family and my grand-kids.
We miss you. 24 May 2006 Dear Tommy, I went to the traveling Wall and put roses there from your sister and me. You are always in my thougts, and will never be forgotten.
From a friend, |
MY DEAREST TOMMIE It has been so long since you left us The world has changed and so have many of the people Not the fun-loving bunch we all knew and ran around with I want you to know I am very proud of you and what you did for our country I think of you every day and thank God that I knew you and you were one of my dearest friends You don't find friends like you anymore People just in and out of our lives Again, thank you for serving our country and being my friend...
Love always, |
I met Tom at Fort Benning, and knew him for some time. We were in the same company when it was the 2d Infantry Division. When the 1st Cav Div was established I was sent to B Company, 2d of the 12th Cav. In late October of "65" I had gone into the local town near our base camp in Vietnam, and when I returned some of the others said Tom had been looking for me. I regret that I missed him. Even though over 38 years has passed, not too many days go by that do not think of him.
From a friend, |
Dear Tommy,
