The photo and following article is taken from The Philadelphia Daily News, special supplement entitled 'SIX HUNDRED AND THIRTY,' October 26, 1987. The special supplement was issued in conjunction with the dedication of the Philadelphia Viet Nam Memorial. Even as a child, "Beas" Beasley wanted to be a Marine, his mother recalled. He graduated from Roman Catholic High School in 1965 and enlisted in the Marine Corps in February 1966. The 19-year-old private first class had recently re-enlisted and was sent to Viet Nam, where he was assigned to Company B, 1st Battalion, 9th Marines, 3rd Marine Division. Beasley died on July 2, 1967, in Quang Tri Province. He was survived by his parents, three brothers and a sister. SEMPER FIDELIS, MARINE!

Michael, it's been 35 years since we were in I Co. 3/26 Marines (6/66-2/67) before you were transferred to the 9th Marines. I'll never forget you, friend. Semper Fi!
