From a friend, |
Buddy was a well-loved brother who is still missed after all these years. I wish my own children and grandchildren could have known him. His family is very proud of his sacrifice. We still have many fond memories of his short time with us and treasure them always. Each year on Memorial Day it has become my daughter's tradition to go through our album of letters to and from Buddy and remember. Sometimes remembering is all you can do. Thanks for the memories, Buddy. This year on the 40th anniversary of his death, we traveled from St. Louis, MO to visit my mother and were at his graveside on Memorial Day 2008. My 5-year-old great-granddaughter was with us. She found a small yellow flower growing in the grass and placed it on his marker. It was a touching moment and was captured in pictures. May we never forget those who died for our freedoms.
