Army Sergeant First Class Jaime Restrepo died in Vietnam, from the injuries he sustained when a Helicopter he was working on exploded. A witness said the cause of the cause of the explosion was unknown, just that he had seen SFC Restropo walking toward the area whre the helicopter was working on, and shortly after SFC Restrepo turned the corner of the revetment to check on the helicopter, the explosion occurrred.

Jaime was born on March 5, 1934 in Medellin South America, but Jaime subsequently came to the United States, where he enlisted in the U.S. Army on March 25, 1957. He married 25 January 1964 in Monterey, California.

For the next thirteen years Jaime served in a variety of U.S. Army Aviation Units, which included Jaime's completing a tour in Vietnam, with the 1st Air Cavalry Division from 18 September 1965 when his unit, 17th Aviation Company, Fort Benning, went to Vietnam and he came back to HHC, 10th Aviation at Fort Benning on 29 March 1966. On 1 October 1970, Jaime began his second combat tour in Vietnam with the 191st Aviation Company (Assault Helicopter), until his untimely death on November 4, 1970. His tour of Vietnam began 26 September upon is arrival for in processing to a unit.

Jaime was 36 years old at the time of his death, and he was survived by his wife Nancy Ellen (Erskine) Restrepo, his son John Jaime Restrepo, and his daughter Maria Restrepo, all of whom were living in Columbus, Georgia.

In addition to the medals and badges displayed in the above shadow box, his additional awards and decorations that Jamie received for his Military Service include: the Meritorious Service Medal (MSM) and the Republic of Vietnam Armed Forces Honor Medal, Second Class.

SFC Jaime Restrepo was buried in the Fort Benning Post Cemetary, Ft Benning, Muscogee Georgia.
