Duane was killed in 1969 and is on the Wall in DC.
I was there and found his name in April of 1999.
Quite moving, I only regret it took me that long to make the trip.

I was told Duane was killed by sniper fire.

Duane was a kind and gentle person. I don't know how he came to be in Vietnam but I am sure that once he was there, he was determined to do his best.

We went to school at St. Anne's (grades 1-8) in Memphis and played football there. Duane was so fast we designed a play just for him and I think it resulted in a TD every time we ran it. He, his brother, and his father tried to teach me how to rebuild carburetors. I introduced Duane to my dog, a most special creature, and I showed them my snakes and turtles and tricks I could do with chemistry.

Duane will live forever in my memory. My regards to his family.
