Oliver slept above me in basic training at Fort Benning, Georgia. Charlie Company, 6th Training Battalion, 2nd Training Brigade ... C-6-2, Chargin' Charlie. He read the Bible every night and he played the harmonica - poorly. Being in Basic with him was like being in an Andy Hardy movie! He had not an enemy in the world. I hope his family knows that there is someone else who misses him and remembers him. I have four grandchildren. They are being taught the stories of my "brothers" who were killed in Vietnam. They will never be forgotten in our house. Doc Shannon |
