Gray, Avilla, IN PFC Sammie Griffin, Philadelphia, PA PFC Daniel J. Guilmet, Seattle, WA PFC Richard W. Peterson, West Covina, CA The photo and following article are taken from The Philadelphia Daily News, special supplement entitled 'SIX HUNDRED AND THIRTY,' October 26, 1987. Griffin, who enlisted in the Army in September 1964, confided in his last letter home from Vietnam that "I'm trying very hard to stay alive and get back home". The private first class, a rifleman assigned to Company C of the 2nd Battalion, 503rd Infantry, 173rd Airborne Brigade, 101st Airborne Division, died one week before Christmas Day 1965.
