17 Dec 2005 I didn't know my Uncle Ken because he was killed in Vietnam in 1967. If he was anything like my father then he was a good man. I visited The Vietnam Memorial on a trip to Washington this year and the reality of how many service men and women died didn't really hit me until I walked up to the Wall to find Kenny's name. The volunteer found Kenny's name and etched it. Seeing all those names to the left and right of him was unbelievable. Listening to stories about Kenny and seeing pictures of him before he joined the Marine Corps, I would have really liked to have known him. A Note from The Virtual Wall During the second half of September 1967 the 2nd Bn, 4th Marines, was operating around Con Thien in northern Quang Tri Province. A bitter fight just east of Con Thien cost the Battalion 33 Marines and sailors on 21 September, while enemy bombardment killed another seven on the 25th: Sgt Douglas L.
