I knew Lawrence during the time that we were stationed at Phan Rang Air Base. We had worked together at the base fuels service station a few times together. I was deeply saddened to hear that he was killed at the base fuels service station on September 20, 1971 in a tragic vehicle accident. (I wasn't working with him that day, I was at the bulk storage tank farm). I have often thought about him through the years and I personally located his name on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall when I visited it in Washington 1994. I remember Lawrence as a pretty nice guy who, though he was somewhat quiet, was always liked by those who knew him. I returned to the states, having completed my tour in Vietnam and have always held a special place in my heart for all who served our country there. (I was stationed in Vietnam from December 19, 1970 - December 12, 1971)
