A Note from The Virtual WallOperation BADGER CATCH was an amphibious assault against North Vietnamese Army positions on the north bank of the Cua Viet River a short distance south of the Demilitarized Zone. Conducted by a Battalion Landing Team built around the 3rd Bn, 1st Marines, BADGER CATCH was successful in finding and destroying several large NVA units - but at a high cost.The BLT fought several major battles during the period 23 Jan - 18 Feb 1968. The first was at My Loc hamlet on 25 Jan; the second was a three-day effort against fortifications in and surrounding Lam Xuan. While the Marines ejected the NVA it cost the lives of 16 men to get it done:
