"Clint" and I, due to our names both starting with D, were seated next to each other in many classes. I always remember Clint as probably the happiest person that I have ever known. Clint was never a gifted student, was not a gifted athlete, was not a gifted musician, and was not gifted working with his hands. I remember a 9th grade woodworking class that we had together. Whenever the instructor wasn't paying attention, I would work on Clint's project so he could finish it and pass the class. Despite all of this Clint always had a big smile and a laugh every day. College was never an option for Clint and like so many other young men who graduated from high school in 1968 it was either join the service or get drafted. Once again, Clint was not the lucky one and was killed a year after graduating from HS. Whenever I feel down and unlucky in life, I think of Clint and his always cheerful outlook on life. I will always remember him.
