12 Sep 2003 Nevitt Davis, John McDonogh High School, New Orleans, in his senior year (1959). The photos were taken just a few months before boot camp. Your seven years of service in the Marine Corps were filled with "Top in your class" awards. Very few Marines ever make DRILL INSTRUCTOR. You, Sir, were one of the best ... Virtual Wall Note Staff Sergeant Nevitt Davis was assigned to the 3rd Force Recon Company, 3rd Recon Battalion. It seems clear SSgt Davis was not on his first tour in Vietnam; in the photograph at the top of the page he is wearing ribbons for the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and Vietnam service, among others.
