Ted, I never knew you - I was 8 years old when you gave your life for us all.

But I've grieved for your mom and dad, especially at holiday time. Each day I drive past your mom and dad's home, and each day I think of them and of you.

To you, your comrades and all servicemen and women I say:

Thank you very much for serving our country so gallantly, bravely and eloquently. Thanks to men and women like you, Ted, we all are free to worship, to go and do and say whatever we want in a free and democratic society. Thanks for defending and protecting our country.

You all have my love, respect, admiration, and thanks for protecting and defending us.

I still think of you and miss you. I am so sorry I left because perhaps this would not have happened.

From a fellow veteran of Alpha 1/7.
