Gary was not only a drinking buddy but also a good friend who liked having a party and enjoying himself. He could work with rope and do Navy knots, something I had a problem with, but he always lent a hand doing the hard jobs. If you ever needed to have somebody watch your back - Gary was there. You are most surely missed not only by myself but with your other friends too who still remember you.

A Note from The Virtual WallThe HCU-1 History contains the following entry:On 14 August HCU ONE lost another fine sailor when Seaman G. S. CURTIS, USN, 138 84 94, drowned in Vung Tau Harbor, RVN. He was assigned to YLLC-2 which was at anchor at the time. It is believed that he accidently fell overboard. |
