Private Michael Cryar, I will learn about you as well. You were there that day, when an infantry battle made its way into history. You were there with Gerry, and you went with him to heaven, brothers in arms for eternity. You were all "Mustangs", you were what the Mustangs stood for, bravery, courage, honor, and the ability to do your duty beyond what is asked, without question. A Note from The Virtual WallThe 8th Cavalry fought two bitter engagements in the Vinh Thanh Valley in May 1966. On 17 May the 2nd Battalion lost 19 soldiers, and on the 22nd the 1st Battalion lost eleven more:
