2nd Lieutenant Richard Lane Cotter was my roommate at Basic School G Company 1st Platoon Class 7-68. Following Basic School, we went to Armored Vehicle School at Camp Pendleton, CA. We were very close in Basic School and grew even closer while in California. He was my best friend for over a year while we served our nation. As time drew near for us to go across the pond to join our units in Viet Nam, we both knew that something bad could happen and that every day we had on this earth together was a special blessing and we lived it that way.

I have missed Rick for 38 years ... I will always remember this great man amongst men.
