Arturo Alvarado Cauble was a Fort Davis, Texas native and resident. The casualty pages list it as Fort David. Fort Davis is the home of the University of Texas McDonald Observatory and is a quaint small town in the Davis Mountains of West Texas west of Pecos, Texas and south of Interstate 20. It is a town known for its old west atmosphere. Arturo enlisted in the Marines about a year after graduating from high school. He had been in the Marines less than a year when he was killed in hostile action in Vietnam. He is remembered by the Permian Basin Vietnam Veterans' Memorial located in Midland, Texas. May his sacrifice never be forgotten.

A Note from The Virtual WallDuring the first few days of March 1969 the 3rd Bn, 26th Marines was involved in Operation TAYLOR COMMON west of An Hoa, Quang Nam Province. At this point the opposing NVA/VC forces had taken a beating and were withdrawing rapidly before the advancing Marines - but as always they fought a bitter rear-guard action. On 04 March Kilo 3/26 came under heavy fire from an entrenched enemy force. Other 3/26 elements moved to assist Kilo; by the time the enemy fortifications had been cleared, five Marines and one sailor were dead:
