Casey, you are still my brother and best friend. You were the quality guy that I always have wished I could be ... you were the guy we all looked to for advice ... you set the standard for character and grace under stress ... and you were one damned good Marine!

Casey, it has been over 37 years, and I can still remember your name and all of the talks we had at the Battalion Aid Station and then when I went to E Company and G Company, and after I was wounded we had many talks. You would have been an outstanding teacher in Montana, where I believe you were from. You had so much knowledge and common sense. I have never seen someone's passing effect so many people. May God watch over your loved ones and we will see each other soon...

It has been almost thirty seven years since I heard your name mentioned ... so when I received the e-mail asking if I had a photo of you for this memorial ... it sent chills down my spine. Even though it has been a long time since I heard your name mentioned aloud, you have lived on in my memory. I have not, and will not ever forget, or let others forget you or the ultimate sacrifice you made for your country and Corps.

If you looked Dennis Casey's name up in Webster's Dictionary ... you would find him described as a true gentleman, kind, considerate, and intelligent. In the Marine Corps Guidebook he is described as the Marine's Marine.

It was my privilege to have known you, and served alongside you, Dennis. Rest in peace...until we serve together again.

Because of you, and others like you, I'm truly humbled to be a part of our "Band of Brothers".
