07 Dec 2005 It has taken a while to write this - like 30 some odd years. I remember reading the paper, being blown away by the article. My football mentor, "Dirty Dan", the blue collar on the undefeated team, no longer here. I remember arguing in 10th grade English class about going to Vietnam if drafted, all with Dan in the back of my mind. Later I protested, even in Kane, with him in the back of my mind. My high school football I played like I remembered he played. Never really knowing Dan I felt like I've known him and think about him. He's always here for some of us, I guess. God Bless.
