James was a life time San Angelo, Texas resident. He attended San Angelo schools, last attending San Angelo Central High School. He was killed when a helicopter on which he was a passenger was shot down by an SA-7 missile on October 31, 1973. He is remembered by the Concho Valley Vietnam Memorial in San Angelo, Texas and by the Permian Basin Vietnam Veterans' Memorial in Midland, Texas. May his sacrifice not be forgotten.
