"To live in the hearts we leave behind,
From one who wore his MIA bracelet. |
To the family of Donald A. Brown... Recently I went to the funeral of a proud, family man and true veteran. I reflected on a time in the late 60s and 70s that I proudly wore the name of an MIA vet named Donald. I know not even if he had a family or those who mourned for him. My understanding is that he is presumed deceased from the plane crash, but never were remains found. I guess, I just wanted someone to know who knew this man, that a stranger truly respects his sacrifice, and is remembered with awe.

Brown took off from Udorn RTAFB in RF-4C tail number 66-0436 on a night photographic reconnaissance mission in southern Laos ... and disappeared without trace. Their last known position was just east of a ridge marking the edge of the Plateau des Bolovens, about 25 miles north of Muang Fangdeng. Extensive search efforts failed to locate either the aircraft or either crewman. Both men were carried as Missing in Action until the Secretary of the Air Force approved Presumptive Findings of Death 17 Oct 1973.
