The database page for Alfred Leon Bertulli
Alfred Bertulli grew up across the baseball field we called the "City Yards" from where I grew up. We played all kinds of sports and games. His nickname was "Leapy" - it was like he had springs in his legs. He loved his country and volunteered for the Marine Corps practically as soon as he got out of school. He did not have very many friends but I'm glad to say he is not forgotten by this veteran. We may not have been the best of friends but when I heard he had passed on I wept. I wonder what fields of endeavor those 58,000-plus would have contributed to and it makes me feel cheated. The highest honor I can bestow on Leapy is he lived his convictions - and there was a poster at my daughter's school that comes to mind is "Character is who you are when nobody is watching". Leapy stood tall in his dress uniform - Alfred Bertulli was a good man.
