Paul David Berthiaume is on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, Panel 04E Line 035.

Advisor to the 4th Armored Cavalry Regiment
Army of the Republic of Viet Nam

Paul received the Viet Nam medal for gallantry from the commander of the First Vietnamese Infantry Division.

"He received the Bronze Star Medal posthumously for assisting in developing the unit into an effective combat arms team. He devised a method of mounting the 57 mm recoiless rifle on the Armored Personnel Carriers (APC) greatly increasing the firepower and mobility of the unit. Participating in many combat operations, his sound tactical judgement and broad military background contributed immeasurably to the success of the counter-insurgency mission."

Captain Berthiaume, an Army Officer in Advance 3 also received the Purple Heart posthumously.

He left behind a devoted wife and four children ages one through five.

Paul was a devoted son and loving brother, but most of all he was a friend to all who had the privilege to know him.

Paul, you will always be in our hearts and prayers.
