REMEMBERED ACROSS THE YEARSa memorial initiated by a friend Kris shesings@lightspeed.net |
This page is in loving memory of my brother Mark. May all who visit here and see his picture and read about him do so without the sadness of losing Mark but with pride and love. He will always be remembered for being a wonderful man who loved his family, friends, God and his country. His passing was far too early in life. He left behind a daughter, wife, parents, siblings, and countless friends and family members who all miss him terribly and wonder every day what life would be like if we had him here today. When you read about the estimate of the thousands of wounded, missing and dead from war there may be a number in black and white but there are so many lives that are changed forever that there is no count for. Please pray always for those we have lost and those who are serving and never forget them.
From his sister, |
No one can say thank you enough to those who gave all for our country. However, I want to try and in doing so say thank you to those of you who knew Mark. I'm retired from the Navy, and served in the Marine Corps and the Army as well during my many years in the service of our great country. Service is never easy especially during war. It may be even harder for those we leave behind as they wait for our return and pray for our safty. For Corporal M. W. Bell I'm sure it was the same. For now Cpl Bell watches over his fellow Marines each time they go into battle and welcomes home those who follow in his footsteps of ultimate sacrifice. One day when I leave this earth and go to heaven where I will see my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, I will ask to be introduced to Cpl Bell and thank him for all his sacrifice. Like most Marines, I'm sure, he will say, "I was just doing my duty and I would do it again. Semper Fi!" Thanks, Cpl Mark Wayne Bell.

A Note from The Virtual Wall
The 1st Sentry Dog and 1st Scout Dog Platoons of the Marines' 1st Military Police Battalion were attached to the 3rd MP Battalion at Danang, which provided both base security and "war dog" support on-base and in the field. Regretably, neither the 1st nor the 3rd MP Battalions' Command Chronologies for June 1969 contain information regarding the circumstances of Cpl Bell's death other than that he was not in the field at the time. Corporal Mark Bell is remembered as a Scout Dog handler on the
Vietnam Dog Handler Association site. |
