A Note from The Virtual WallOn 24 Nov 1969 a C-130 of the 41st Tactical Airlift Squadron, 374th TAW, departed Ubon RTAFB, Thailand, for a forward air control mission ("Blind Bat") over Laos. As the aircraft was orbiting at 9000 feet in the vicinity of Ban Bak it was hit by several 37mm antiaircraft shells and crashed about 15 miles west of Ban Talan. All eight crewmen were killed in the crash:
