The database page for Jacob Benedict Babin, Jr
I was attached to the 504th MP Bn from the 630th MP Co for Operation Lam Son 719. Jacob was a good friend and is always in my thoughts and prayers even though it's been over 30 years. As a member of the Convoy escort platoon you were the driving force that kept us together. I still remember you pinching me with your toes - never saw anyone do that but you. Love you and miss you, Jake.
A memorial from a great friend, |
I am Jake's brother. I know how well loved he was by To our beloved Vietnam vets.
We love you. We support you. We thank you for all you Like Jake, you are forever in our hearts.
From his brother, |
I grew up with Jake in Malden and played daily b-ball with him at Ferryway Green park. He was a great kid who you knew would never allow himself to get into any trouble. When we graduated from high school we did what many guys in blue collar America did, we signed up to serve our country. Jake went into the Army while I joined the Marines. I got hit in Nam and was medically retired when Jake was killed. Although I had been hardened by the Nam experience and the loss of many close comrades and friends, Jake's death was different. I was home and not in the bush. It hit me hard. I had the honor to participate in the dedication of a Square near Judson Square where Jake grew up. I visit Jake on Memorial Day and on my pilgrimages to the Wall. Jake was one of the good ones. Bill Goss
