Notes from The Virtual Wall

Private Ray Angus was on his second tour in Vietnam when he was killed in action. He arrived in Vietnam with Alpha Co, 1/7 Marines, and in December 1965 was transferred to Kilo 3/4. He was rotated back to the States in June 1966, serving with the 2/8 Marines and the Staging Bn, MCB Camp Pendleton, before returning to Vietnam. He joined Charlie Company, 1st Battalion, 1st Marines on 19 July 1967.

On 15 August 1967 Charlie 1/1 lost 10 men to mines:

  • SSgt James J. McCormack, New York, NY
  • LCpl Larry E. Bowman, Cincinnati, OH
  • HN Clifford K. Coons, Pomerene, AZ (H&S Co with C/1/1)
  • LCpl Douglas R. Dickerson, Trenton, NJ
  • LCpl Gordon P. Eadie, Detroit, MI
  • LCpl Robert A. Kolas, San Diego, CA
  • Pfc Paul Mc Eachron, Stoughton, MA
  • Pvt Clarence R. Angus, Glen Allen, VA
  • Pvt Glenn C. Baer, Reading, PA

He was buried on 29 August 1967 in Plot F1-0-7688,
Hampton National Cemetery,
Hampton, Virginia,
among other men of honor and integrity.
