Anderson attended Overbrook High School before enlisting in the Marine Corps in May 1966. The 19-year-old private first class, an ammunition carrier with Company E of the 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marines, 3rd Marine Division, died near Huong Hoa, Viet Nam, on May 3, 1967.
